MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State women's basketball will air on ESPN3 as they open the 2017-18 campaign against a stacked field at the PBC/SAC Challenge in Wingate, North Carolina on November 10-11.
Hosted by Wingate, the tournament will see the Lakers take on Anderson (21-7, 18-4 SAC) at 5 p.m. on the first day before facing the No. 14 ranked Bulldogs (26-6, 18-4 SAC) at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The other games will see Georgia College (15-12, 9-10 PBC) take on Wingate and Anderson.
The Lakers opening game against Anderson will be aired worldwide on ESPN3 through Wingate's agreement with the network. Their game against WU will also be broadcast but on the Bulldogs' official YouTube channel.
While they have
only met twice in program history, taking on the Trojans has become a regular occurrence of late. The teams met for the first time in the 2016 NCAA Tournament when AU posted an 80-56 decision in Gaffney, S.C. on March 11 of that year. They would lock horns again that fall when Clayton State took down No. 21 Anderson by an 84-73 score on November 11 in Savannah, Georgia.
The all-time series against Wingate has gone on since December 30, 2000 with the
Lakers holding a 5-4 advantage. They picked up the lead in the series with a thrilling 73-72 victory on November 12, 2016, the fifth in the last six games between the teams.
WU's lone win during that stretch was a slim 64-63 decision in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on March 10, 2012. The Bulldogs hold a 3-1 advantage on a neutral court with all but one of those meetings occurring in the NCAA Tournament. In 2006 they earned a 67-64 victory on March 11 and an 82-72 decision on March 17, 2008.
In addition to the broadcasts of both games, multimedia coverage will be available through live stats throughout the weekend. All multimedia links and postgame coverage can be found on
