Clayton State Continues 2017 Slate With Weekend Trip to Francis Marion

MORROW, Ga. – Coming off of a solid win over defending Peach Belt Conference Tournament Champion Lander, Clayton State (7-5, 2-1 PBC) looks to conclude it's run through South Carolina foes with a trip to Francis Marion (4-7, 0-3 PBC) on  Saturday, January 5.

Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Florence, South Carolina following the conclusion of the women's contest. In addition to their win over Lander (Greenwood, S.C.), the Lakers previous win came over USC Aiken (Aiken, S.C.) before the holiday break. A win at FMU would give them a season sweep against their foes from the Palmetto State, and in consecutive games.

Clayton State is 17-8 all-time against the Patriots, dating to the first meeting on November 25, 1994 at The Loch. The Lakers have posted two separate five game winning streaks, first from January 6, 2001 through March 1, 2003 and again from January 24, 2009 through January 7, 2012.

The teams have split the last four meetings, with FMU winning back-to-back games on January 21, 2013 (70-61) and January 20, 2014 (71-68). Since then Clayton State has notched a 78-75 decision on December 20, 2014 and an 81-70 victory in the most recent meeting on December 19, 2015.

The game will be available both on live stats and live video. Please note that while Winter Storm Helena is moving through the Southeast, no changes to the game date or time are expected. Should any changes be necessary due to changing weather conditions they will be available on the Official Online Home the Lakers, www.ClaytonStateSports.com.
