Kristiin Mets (Kuressaare, Estonia) delivered one of the best performances of her career as Clayton State battled No. 1 BYU-Hawaii (13-0, 0-0 PacWest) before falling 9-0 in an NCAA Division II women's tennis match on Monday, March 28.

With the Lakers playing down one person, the Seasiders opened up with a 2-0 lead before posting an 8-0 decision at No. 2 doubles. The pairing of senior
Raluca Pavel (Bacau, Romania) and Mets at No. 1 doubles then challenged BYUH's Dallas Zhang and JoJo Wu before falling 8-3 in a competitive match.

Straight sets wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles wrapped up the match and Pavel took on the No. 1 singles player in the country in Zhang before dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision. Following a win a No. 5, BYU-Hawaii faced their toughest challenge.

Mets, playing at the No. 2 position, faced off against Karen Liu, who is currently ranked No. 7 in the nation. In that match she surrendered nothing and forced Liu to earn every point of a 6-4, 6-4 decision to close out the match.

The Lakers hit the road and return to Peach Belt Conference action as they travel to Montevallo (8-6, 1-6 PBC) on Saturday, April 2. First serve is set for 2 p.m. (EST) in Montevallo, Ala.
