MORROW, Ga. – Taking on one of the toughest teams, not just in Division II, but all of collegiate tennis, Clayton State (3-9, 1-6 PBC) dropped a 9-0 decision to defending national champion No. 4 Armstrong State (14-1, 5-0 PBC) in an NCAA Division II women's tennis match on Friday, March 25.

Carolina Monterrubio (Mexico City, Mexico) fell 8-0 to Nicole Fossa Huergo and Lena Pacholski at No. 3.

That would be the easiest of the three matchups as juniors
Darina Drozdova (St. Petersburg, Russia) and
Maria Mendes (Sau Paulo, Brazil) fell 8-0 to No. 19 Alejandra Cisneros and Carolina Prats-Millan at No. 2. Senior
Raluca Pavel (Bacau, Romania) and junior
Kristiin Mets (Kuressaare, Estonia) had the toughest challenge yet delivered the best result. They would take on the No. 3 doubles tandem in the country, Lena Lutzeier and Diana Stomlega, falling 8-1 at the top spot.

The opposition got no easier as Lutzeier, ranked No. 9 in singles overpowered Pavel 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 before Stomlega earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mendes at No. 4 to seal the match victory. Ageichik then fell 6-1, 6-1 at the fifth position to make it 6-0.

From there, No. 48 Prats-Millan earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Drozdova and Cisneros, ranked No. 5 in the country, posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mets at No. 2. Monterrubio would close out the match as she dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Alice Patch at No. 6.

The Lakers schedule not only doesn't get easier, it gets harder as they host No. 1 BYU-Hawaii on Monday, March 28. First serve is set for a special 10 a.m. start.
