MORROW, Ga. – No. 23/24 Clayton State (16-4, 10-3 PBC) returns home to take on Georgia Southwestern (9-11, 3-10 PBC) in Peach Belt Conference West Division action on Saturday, February 6. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. at The Loch.
After having upset the Lakers on January 27, the Hurricanes have dropped their last two games entering the weekend. This includes a 72-56 decision to Columbus State (1/30) and a 68-60 loss to Montevallo (2/3). GSW is currently in last place in the West Division but has notched three wins over league foes, including the Lakers and Young Harris.
Clayton State returns home following three straight road losses that have dropped them into a first place tie in the West Division. The last of those losses, at No. 18 Columbus (2/3) in their last outing, brought them into that tie.
However, thanks to head-to-head wins over other PBC opponents, losses by the Cougars and a quirk of the schedule that brings Columbus to The Loch in the regular season finale, the Lakers remain in solid position to make a run at both the division and overall PBC regular season title.
This year the latter comes with an added bonus of having the opportunity to host the league's men's and women's Final Four. That honor will go to the highest seeded remaining team after the quarterfinals on February 27. Clayton State has never hosted the Peach Belt Final Four and is in a two-team race with Columbus.
