Trip to Charlotte for Embassy Suites SAC/PBC Tip-Off Challenge Kicks Off Season for Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State is set to tip-off the 2016-17 season with a pair of games at the Embassy Suites SAC/PBC Tip-Off Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina from November 11-12.

The Lakers will open against Anderson (7-21) at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 11 as they face the Trojans for just the second time in program history. The teams first faced off in Anderson, South Carolina on November 13, 2010 with AU posting a narrow 70-69 decision. Clayton State would even the series at 1-1 with a 78-72 victory on November 15, 2014.

The matchup against host Queens (N.C.) at 4 p.m. on November 12 will be a program first as the teams have never met. The Royals enter the year as one of the top teams in the Southeast Region following a 25-7 performance that earned them a trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament a year ago.

This year they have already served notice with a stunning 75-73 exhibition victory over Division I Virginia Commonwealth. Last season VCU went 25-11 and reached the NCAA Tournament Second Round. Additionally, QUC was picked No. 6 in The Sporting News Preseason Poll and had Jalin Alexander named to its Preseason All-America Team as an Honorable Mention.

Both games will be available on live stats and live video. Full coverage can be found on the Embassy Suites SAC/PBC Tip-Off Challenge Tournament page.
