MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State (10-1, 4-0 PBC) will find out very quickly just how good they can be over their next three games as they take on three Peach Belt Conference foes with a combined record of 32-4. That stretch opens up with a home game against Armstrong State (9-4, 1-3 PBC) on Wednesday, January 6. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at The Loch.
The Pirates come into the game having lost four of their last five after opening the season with a program record tying 8-0 mark. That streak was stopped at The Loch on December 5 as ASU dropped a 68-57 decision to Chowan as part of the Heritage Bank Classic.
That triggered a three-game losing streak as they fell 63-48 at Young Harris (12/17) and 60-52 at North Georgia (12/19) in the first two PBC outings. They Armstrong opened 2016 with a 77-74 victory over USC Aiken (1/2) but dropped a 69-55 decision to No. 15 Columbus State (1/4) in their most recent outing.
For the Lakers, they come in riding a seven-game win streak, their longest since the 2013-14 season. That year they won 14 in a row from January 15-March 6 and reached the PBC Championship Game. This year that stretch has been highlighted by a victory over No. 15 Francis Marion (73-61 on 12/19) and by an average of 74.7 points per game. They have also limited opponents to an average of 55.6 points and allowed only one team to score more than 68 points.
