MORROW, Ga. – Coming off a gutty second half win in their last outing, Clayton State (9-6, 4-4 PBC) will face UNC Pembroke (10-7, 4-4 PBC) in an important Peach Belt Conference inter-divisional game on Monday, January 18. Game time is set for a special 3:30 p.m. tip-off on Martin Luther King Day. The Lakers will also celebrate our armed service members with Military Appreciation Day.
 
Surrounding six losses in seven games in the middle of the season for UNCP are a five game win streak directly before it and a current four-game win streak. During the latter, the Braves have defeated USC Aiken (1/6) 59-52, Montevallo (1/9) 80-71, Francis Marion (1/13) 91-75 and North Georgia (1/16) 79-73.
 
The Lakers have earned a split in their last two games, falling 77-75 to Georgia College (1/13) on a buzzer beater and pulling out an 87-73 second half victory at Flagler (1/16). The story in those two games, however, has been junior guard Alfonso Davis (Bronx, N.Y.), who averaged 25.0 points, 17.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 4.0 assists. In the GC game, he ripped down 19 boards to tie the program record, a mark not done since 1997.
