MORROW, Ga. – Riding a 10-game winning streak and sitting atop the Peach Belt Conference, Clayton State (13-1, 7-0 PBC) heads to Florida to take on Flagler College (7-7, 3-4 PBC) on Saturday, January 16. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. in St. Augustine.
Following a five-game losing streak, the Saints have won three of their last four games to bring their record to .500. During that stretch they defeated USC Aiken (1/4) in overtime by a 73-72 score before dropping a 79-59 decision to Francis Marion (1/6). FC then made it a season sweep against the Pacers with a narrow 67-64 decision and the took down Georgia Southwestern (1/12) 59-56 in a weekday matinee.
The Lakers, meanwhile, have been one of the hottest teams in the country as winners of their last 10 games, a number of which have been against stiff competition. Most recently they held on for a 52-48 victory against a 13-win Georgia College team on January 13.
In addition to having the 15
th best winning percentage in the nation (.929), and second in the Southeast Region to undefeated Limestone, Clayton State also sports some impressive national statistical rankings. Entering play this weekend, they are fifth in steals (12.5) and turnovers forced (24.7) and are seventh in offensive rebounds per game (18.0).
Earlier this week they moved into the Top-25 of the D2SIDA Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll at No. 22 and currently sit one spot outside of the Top-25 in the
USA Today Sports Coaches Poll. In the latter, they garnered 60 votes, just eight shy of breaking into the rankings.
