Men's Cross Country By Mike Mead, Head Track & Cross Country Coach

Armstrong State College Invitational

Recap consists of post-meet comments by head coach Mike Mead

Mixed feelings after this one. The warm, very humid conditions affected everyone's performances today. It was more like Peachtree Road Race conditions than mid-October cross country weather. Dawn Peterson continued her efforts towards post-season competition, running gutsy the last 1/2 mile to run her fastest time of the season. Candice Blackmon battled the humidity to finish strong while the coach pulled Abbey Norman at the mile because of continued hip problems. On the men's side, I was very disappointed in our team effort. We let the warm weather get to us before we even began the race. Thought Armstrong State was prime for the picking today, but we didn't get after them and ran perhaps our worst team race of the season. Matt Fabbri ran his second-fastest 5-mile of the season. The rest of the gang needs some work before our next meet, Oct. 28 the Peach Belt Championships.
