Senior defender Janne Brouer (Aarhus, Denmark) did her thing defensively but also continued to be the Lakers leading scorer as she delivered a goal in her fourth straight game - posting a game-winner and a game tying score against strong competition. She logged north of 208 minutes over a pair of games this past week, and that despite taking a hard hit late in each.

In the first of those outings she played all 107 minutes in 91 degree blazing heat in Columbus, Georgia against Christian Brothers (9/13). Late in the second overtime, knotted at 1-1, she got knocked to the ground.

Down but not out, she got up after being checked out, took a pass from Teya Holloman and proceeded to drive it to the back of the net for the game-winner. In her defensive role she helped scatter eight attempts, six of which went on frame.

Returning home to take on a solid Queens (9/15) team, Brouer played all 101 minutes and limited the Royals to just six shots. Five minutes after QUC managed to take the lead in the second half she played up from her defensive position and found her way into the box. There she would capitalize on a loose ball in front of the net and chip it high to the back right corner to tie the game at 1-1.

Late in the game she would take her second big hit of the week as she had a ball redirected into her face but got up and continued to anchor the defense. It would take a long shot on a broken play at the beginning of the second overtime to send Clayton State to a 2-1 defeat, but even then it only barely cleared the keeper's outstretched fingertips.

Continuing a tradition of offensive minded defenders, Brouer has scored in all four games this year and her four goals are tied for the Peach Belt Conference lead. Her eight points are second in the league.
