Kemboi posted four impressive performances in the Month of February, beginning with a 12-of-64 outing in the 3,000-meters at the Sewanee Indoor Track & Field Invitational (2/14). In that event, his first since earning cross country All-American honors, he posted a time of 8:36.65.
Not only would he top that mark the following week at the UCS Invitational (2/21), he would best every previous program mark in the indoor event as he ran a record 8:36.04. That earned him a 7-of-39 finish in a field that included four competitors from Division I Wake Forest, two of whom he beat handily.
Kemboi closed out the month with a pair of strong outings at the outdoor Cougar Invitational (2/28). There he finished 2-of-31 in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:06.49 and 3-of-30 in the 3,000-meter (8:45.57).
This is the second month that Kemboi has been named as a Chick-fil-A Forest Park Dwarf House Student-Athlete of the Month. He was one of the first two honorees in November following his All-American performance at the Division II Cross Country Championships.
