Coach Jamal Wilson, Oly, has seen much success in his first two seasons with the jumping crew at Clayton State. Coach Wilson has mentored and tutored many all-conference athletes including  Freddie Hawkins and Kahmani Zachery also earned All-Conference honors in the High Jump in both the 2024 Indoor & Outdoor PBC Championships.  In fact, under his leadership, Hawkins Earned the USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region accolade in the 2022-23 season after winning the Outdoor title in the high jump with a final mark of 1.95m . Under his direction, Davonte Jackson is a 5x all-conference mention in the long and triple jump in his first two seasons of competition.  His jumping crew is one of the top-performing groups of the Peach Belt Conference and in the Southeast Region over the past two seasons. 

Jamal Wilson enters his second season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach under the direction of Christopher Brown.  Coach Wilson coaches the jumpers for coach Brown.  Wilson brings an Olympic pedigree to Morrow, Ga. as a two-time competitor in the Olympic games as a high jumper.  Wilson competed for his home country, the Bahamas, in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and most recently in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
 
Coach Wilson started competing in World competitions in 2005 when he was at the CARIFTA Games.  At that event, Wilson won the high jump with a mark of 2.08m.  In all, Wilson is a three-time CARIFTA Games champion and a record-holder.  He is also a 2018 Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist in the high jump and a two-time Senior Central American and Caribbean (CAC) medalist.  Most recently, Wilson earned a silver medal at the 2013 CAC Championships in Mexico in the high jump with a final mark of 2.22m. 
 
Coach Jamal is also a two-time NACAC U23 medalist, a two-time Indoor Championships qualifier, a Bahamian National Champion, a junior CAC medalist, and a 2007 Junior Pan American Games Champion in the high jump.
 
Coach Wilson started his collegiate career at Southwest Mississippi Community College.  There, Wilson was a NJCAA National champion in the high jump. Wilson then transferred to the University of Texas where he was a letter winner and an All-American in the high jump.  Coach Wilson is a graduate of Temple Christian High School in Nassau, The Bahamas. 
 
Before coaching at Clayton State, Wilson made stops as a coach at the J&J House of Skills and at Fearless Athletics.  Wilson’s favorite quote is “Life is short and stay positive.”
