A former professional and semiprofessional soccer player in his native Finland, joined Clayton State as a student assistant women’s soccer coach in August of 2016.
NORTHEASTERN STATE UNIVERSITY (2014-15)
Kivisto served two years as a student assistant coach with highly successful men’s soccer program at NCAA Division II Northeastern State (Okla.). During his time there the team posted a record of 28-9-2 and reached the third round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament after winning the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Championship.
That year the program went an impressive 16-3-2 and followed with a 12-6 campaign the following season. The 2015 season would also see the Riverhawks notch a 3-2 win over No. 20 Lindenwood and a pair of victories over Fort Hays State when the Tigers were ranked No. 20 (3-2) and No. 22 (1-0).
PROFESSIONAL AND NATIONAL PLAYING CAREER
The soccer veteran played professionally for 10 years in his native Finland before embarking upon a collegiate coaching career in the United States. Additionally he played for Finland’s National Team at the U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels. He also won youth and academy championships with FC HJK Helsinki.

Kivisto graduated from Makelanrinne Sports High School in Helsinki, Finland.
