One of the most successful players in Clayton State women’s soccer history, McCormack rejoined the program in an official capacity in June of 2017. A four-year member of the team as a goalkeeper from 2012-16, she served in a volunteer role during the 2016 season.
CLAYTON STATE (2016, VOLUNTEER GOALKEEPERS COACH)
As a volunteer in 2016, McCormack worked with the club’s keepers, who recorded four shutouts and six other games of just one goal allowed. Those performances played a major role in the Lakers qualifying for their 16
th Peach Belt Conference Tournament in 17 seasons. As a unit, they posted a 1.78 goals against average and .690 save percentage in nearly 1,600 minutes of action.
CLUB AND YOUTH LEVEL EXPERIENCE (2016-PRESENT)
Most recently, she has been highly involved at the club and youth soccer level for four different organizations. Beginning in 2016 she coached both the Academy (U9) and Select (U16) teams for the Rockdale Youth Soccer Association and served as that organization’s goalkeeper coach for all levels, boys and girls, into 2017.
She then joined the Olympic Development Program (ODP), which is tasked with identifying and providing opportunities for potential national team players at an early age. Throughout the profession, involvement with ODP is viewed as an indicator of talent and soccer ambition, both for players and coaches. While there she served as the goalkeepers coach and worked with the U11 girls team.
McCormack also worked as the head coach of the junior varsity girls program at the Atlanta International School. In that role she was also the goalkeepers coach for academy, middle school and varsity keepers. A native of Wexford, Ireland, she has also spent time working with the Wexford Youths Women’s Soccer club. That organization participates in Ireland’s Women’s National League.
COLLEGIATE PLAYING CAREER: CLAYTON STATE (2012-15)
As a player for the Lakers, she was extremely accomplished and helped lead the club back to prominence. Following a freshman campaign that saw her play in just five games for a 10-win club, McCormack took over as the starting keeper in 2013.
That year would be a resurgence as the club went 12-4-6, claimed both the Peach Belt Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships and made the third NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in program history.
The latter was the first since back-to-back trips in 2004 and 2005. Individually, she played in a program record 23 games as she went 11-5-6 with eight shutouts, a 1.10 goals against average and a record shattering 2,218 minutes in net.
The following year she would help guide the team to a 13-7 record while playing in 18 games. That year would see McCormack notch a 0.84 GAA, .818 save percentage and a 12-3 record that included another eight shutouts before closing her career with an 8-8-1 record and another three clean sheets as a senior in 2015.
For her career, she posted a stellar 1.11 GAA and .781 save percentage while logging more than 5,600 minutes over the course of 64 games. She went 34-17-7 and produced 20 shutouts, the latter ranking second all-time to Judith Chime’s 25. McCormack was also twice selected to the All-PBC Second-Team (2013, 2014), the All-PBC Academic Team (2015) and was a five time PBC Goalkeeper of the Week selection.
INTERNATIONAL PLAYING CAREER: TEAM IRELAND (2015)
In addition to her accomplishments at the collegiate level, she also had the opportunity to represent her native Ireland in a friendly against the United States National Team.
After being called up, she
served as the backup goalkeeper for a nationally televised exhibition on May 10, 2015. That game was held at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California and was seen worldwide on FOX Sports 1.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Beyond the soccer field, McCormack has worked with Clayton State Sports Information in a variety of roles. This has included game photography, extensive archive work and feature writing.
On May 19, 2017, her work in the latter was recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as a
District Winner in the Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. Her piece on the national rise of former women’s soccer player Jenny Dreasler as a television journalist took home the honors in District 3 for General Feature.
EDUCATION
A 2016 graduate of Clayton State, McCormack earned a degree in Marketing in May of that year.
