2017-18: Played in 27 games, starting 11 as a true freshman … averaged 6.3 points and 6.2 rebounds … earned Co-Player of the Week honors in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) on November 7, 2017 … that would come after her first full week as a college student-athlete, one in which she put up averages of 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds over two outings … delivered what are still career-highs of 19 points and 13 boards in the first of those against the College of Central Florida (11/3) … followed with 16 points and six caroms at Santa Fe following day … reached double-figures in scoring seven times and had at least four rebounds on 22 occasions … three times those efforts combined as double-doubles … those came against Atlanta Metro (1/27) with 11 points, 11 boards and a career-high three blocks and Albany Tech (2/27) with 10 points and 10 caroms … ripped down nine boards three times, including with 10 points against Cape Fear (11/17) and seven points vs. Georgia Highlands (1/24).
 
Lincoln High School: Played two years of basketball for LHS … helped lead program to back-to-back 8A District titles … averaged 7.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals as a junior and 10.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals as a senior.
 
Maclay College Preparatory School: Played basketball for MCPS … averaged of 5.0 points and 5.4 rebounds.
 
Leon High School: Earned call up from junior varsity as a freshman … averaged 3.0 points and 5.2 rebounds for a team that would go on to win the 7A District Championship.
 
Personal: Born on May 2, 1999, Maranda is the daughter of Aquenda and Marvis “Bootsy” Thornton III … family includes a sister, Milana (14), and a brother, Marvis IV (16) … both parents played basketball at Tallahassee Community College (mother – 1995-97, father – 1996-98) … Aquenda then played at Florida A&M (1997-99) and Marvis starred for Division I staple St. Johns (1998-2000) … latter also played professionally for 14 years overseas … currently majoring in Health and Fitness Management.
