Trent Orndorf joined Laker Nation in 2011 and has worked with the goalkeepers for both the men’s and women’s programs at Clayton State.
Working for both programs as an assistant coach and goalkeepers coach, Orndorf has coached all 13 Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week winners. Former women’s keeper Charlotte McCormack leads all goalkeepers with five awards, just beating out Theo Blachon who has earned the award four times.
Viltsu Tuumi and Nick Punter each added two PBC weekly awards.
Blachon also earned first-team All-PBC and first-team All-Southeast Region honors in 2019 after helping the Lakers to a 14-6 record. He accounted for 86 saves and two assists and finished the season with a 0.98 goals against average.
Outside of Clayton State, Orndorf has worked in the professional, collegiate and club ranks for over 30 years. He has been on the coaching staffs at both NAIA Life University and NCAA Division I Georgia State. He has also served as the goalkeeper coach for the Atlanta Silverbacks of the A-League and the Atlanta Blackhawks of the PDL.
In 2021, Orndorf was named the First Team Assistant for The Georgia Storm, which competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). In this role, he responsible for training and player development.
In the Storm’s inaugural season, they finished the season ranked second in the Southeast Conference and led the conference in goals scored (26) and fewest goals allowed (9).
The Storm had three players, Fabian Pekruhl (GK), Wilfried Kamdem Tchoupa (MF), and Stephen Bivens (F), selected to the All-Conference team while Kamdem was named to the All-Region Team.
Additionally, he has trained and coached a number of current and former professional goalkeepers, including several who were or are currently in the United States and Irish National Team programs. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Roswell Santos Soccer Club and coached in various positions for over 20 years on the Georgia and Colorado ODP staffs. He is also a Georgia Soccer Coaching Instructor and runs USSF and United Soccer Coaches (USC) courses across the country.
A native of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, Orndorf played collegiately at Northeastern Christian Junior College in Philadelphia. He led the Knights to their only two winning seasons and set the school’s single-season and career records for saves. He went on to play three years in the Rio Grande Interregional Soccer League (RGISL) for Las Cruces.
Orndorf’s professional playing career included stints with the El Paso Spurs of the IUSISL and El Paso Patriots of the SISL.
A veteran of the United States Army, Orndorf holds a Masters of Administration (Leadership) and a Graduate Certificate in Training Development from Central Michigan University. He also holds a USSF “A” and a USSF National Youth License.
Orndorf has two sons, Nolan and Gareth. Gareth is a member of the men’s soccer program at Clayton State.
