Clayton State University Athletics

Since its first season in 1991-92, Clayton State women's basketball team has been one of the most successful programs in the Southeast Region. They have won the Peach Belt Conference Tournament four times and the PBC Regular Season title seven times. Prior to that they won the 1995 Georgia Athletic Conference Tournament as a member of the NAIA.

More impressively, the Lakers have reached the NCAA Division II Tournament 14 times and won the Southeast Regional four times (2007, 2009, 2011, 2013). Topping Clayton State women's basketball's list of accomplishments is the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championship. With a commanding 69-50 victory over Michigan Tech on March 25, 2011 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the Lakers became the first, and still only, Southeast Region member to win a national title.
