MELBOURNE, Fla. – The #13 Clayton State University men's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season falling to Florida Tech, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers opened the scoring, but the Panthers scored a pair of unanswered goals.
The Panthers were quick to fire in shots in the first half as they peppered
George Roke with four shots in the first 10 minutes of the half. The Lakers then struck for their lone goal of the match. In the 18
th minute,
Fabian Wagner fed the ball to
Sonny Simpson who crossed into the box to
Fallah Johnson for the goal and the Lakers led, 1-0. The Panthers then knotted the match up at one in the 27
th minute.
The two teams would then go into the locker room with that same score of 1-1. Florida Tech attempted eight shots and Roke made three saves.

The Panthers did not waste any time to get on the board in the second half. In the 47
th minute, after a Laker yellow card, Florida Tech converted a penalty kick and made the score, 2-1. The Lakers continued to fight throughout the half firing in five shots but none found the back of the net. Johnson, Wagner, and
Camilo Velez all notched shots for Clayton State.
The Panthers sent in nine shots in the second half and handed the Lakers their first loss of the season, 2-1.
