Smith Makes Nine Saves in 0-0 Draw at Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's soccer team played the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern University on Saturday evening.  The two teams ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Lakers and Hurricanes could not get anything going offensively in the first half of play as the two teams took a 0-0 score going into the halftime break.  The Lakers did have a solid opportunity to score as Karley Perry sent a shot in, at the 16th minute, but it hit woodwork.  The Hurricanes put one on frame, but Rubie Kelley stalled that scoring opportunity.

Halftime: Clayton State 0, Georgia Southwestern 0

The second half was a different story offensively especially for GSW.  The Hurricanes peppered goalkeeper Claire Smith throughout the half.  In the first 15 minutes, Smith made three saves, alone.  The rest of the half proved to be very eventful for Smith and the Laker defensive unit as they faced 16 shots.   In 45 minutes of play, Smith made nine saves, which is a new season high.

The two teams ended the match in a 0-0 draw.
