Boxscore LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team played No. 21 Georgia Gwinnett College at the Grizzly Soccer Complex on Saturday. The Lakers pulled out a 3-1 victory.
The two teams played a possession game in the majority of the first half, but each team saw chances in the first 10 minutes.
Alex Rodriguez attempted a shot for the Lakers. Clayton State scored a pair of goals in a matter of a few minutes. In the 28
th minute, off a corner from
Camilo Velez,
Othmane Chagour scored his first goal of the season and made the score, 1-0. A couple of minutes later, off a pass from Velez, Rodriguez finished for the goal and made the score, 2-0.
That proved to be only offense of the match as Clayton State led GGC, 2-0 at the half.

The Grizzlies notched the second half's first goal in the 47
th minute which made the score, 2-1. The majority of the second half proved to be a possession battle in which neither team had many opportunities to score. However, the Lakers added to their lead in the 75
th minute. After a Grizzly foul in the box, Rodriguez sent in his penalty shot into the back of the net for a goal. The score moved to 3-1.
The Lakers ended up taking down Georgia Gwinnett, 3-1, in Lawrenceville.
