Coach Adkins Announces the Inaugural Club Football Schedule

The schedule consists of five home games and three away games

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State University Club Football Coach Kevin Adkins announced on Wednesday morning the Inaugural Club Football schedule.  The schedule consists of five home games and three away games.  The club football team will play its home games at Morrow High School.
 
THE SCHEUDLE RUNDOWN
Coach Adkins' squad takes the field for its first game of the season at home on Saturday, September 14th against Southwest Florida at 7 p.m.  The team then hosts Andrew College on Saturday, September 21st at 7 p.m. After stops at Central Georgia Tech and Gordon State on September 28th and October 5th, respectively, the Lakers come back to Morrow HS to kickoff a three-game homestand.  During the homestand, the team faces Winthrop on October 12th, Columbus State on October 19th, and Atlantis University on October 16th.  All games during the homestand kick off at 2 p.m. The Lakers conclude their season on the road against Georgia Military College on November 2nd at 2 p.m.
 
ABOUT CLUB FOOTBALL/COACH ADKINS
Club football is your standard 11-man tackle football played at the collegiate level. Club football offers the opportunity to continue playing the sport if an athlete did not receive a scholarship or would like another year of training before pursuing future endeavors.
 
The club football team is led by head coach Kevin Adkins.  Before he arrived at Clayton State, Adkins was the head coach at Gordon State where he compiled a record of 29-6 and won the 2022 NCFA National Championship and two consecutive South Atlantic Conference titles.  In the 2021 season, coach Adkins was named the NCFA Coach of the Year.  In 2023, Adkins was on his way to a third straight South Atlantic Championship, but eventually lost to Central Georgia Tech.  In the 2022, He led Gordon State to a 12-1 record and outscored its opponents, 407-99, including pitching three shutouts.  This season ended with being crowned the National Champions.   
 
ABOUT THE NCFA
Clayton State University's Club Football team will compete in the NCFA (National Club Football Association). In addition to playing other club teams, the club football team will be playing against institution supported football programs at the college, community college, and collegiate prep school level. Currently there are 27 colleges participating in the NCFA. Clayton State will be competing in the South Atlantic Conference.
