MORROW, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced on Monday that it selected Clayton State University standouts Ariyonna Jones and Davonte Jackson as its Female Track and Male Field Athletes of the Week.

Jones earned her fourth PBC Female Runner of the Week honors while Jackson garners his second such honor.

Jones had a big weekend at the Berry Field Day Invitational.  She took second place at the 400m dash where she finished with a time of 57 seconds.  She currently leads the conference in the event.  In the 200m dash, Ariyonna took seventh place with a time of 24.89, which is tops in the conference.  Jones becomes only the third Laker to go sub-25 seconds in the outdoor 200m dash and becomes the first Laker in program history to go sub-25 seconds in both the indoor and outdoor 200m.  In addition, Jones was a part of the 4x100 meter relay team that broke the school record with a final time of 47.29.  That time is also good for a conference best.

Jackson, who is a native of Locust Grove, Ga., also had a phenomenal weekend.  Davonte swept the long and triple jumps with final marks of 6.83m and 14.46m.  Jackson becomes only the fourth Laker to hit at least 14m in the triple jump in program history.  Currently, Jackson is first in the long jump and second in the triple jump in the PBC.  Davonte also exceled in the hurdles as he took second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.47 and he took third in the 110m race with a final time of 15.28.  Currently, Davonte is fourth in the PBC in both the 110 and 400 hurdle races.

The Lakers compete in the 2024 Peach Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Meet on Monday, April 29th through Tuesday, April 30th down in Daytona Beach, Fla.  The meet is being hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
