BOCA RATON, Fla. – The fourth-seeded Clayton State University men's soccer team saw its 2024 NCAA DII Tournament run end as Lynn University won the game in overtime, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The story of the first half was a defensive battle as neither team could break through on the scoreboard and the score read, 0-0, heading into the halftime break. The two team combined for nine shots with the Lakers notching three of those shots. The Lakers saw their best opportunity to score in the seventh minute, but
Alexis Iturria's shot was fired right at the keeper for an easy save. None of Lynn's six shots were on frame.

Both teams brought more offensive intensity in the second half and the Lakers outshot the Fighting Knights, 8-5. The Lakers also forced seven corner kicks in the half to the three that Lynn attempted. The possession battle lasted until the 77
th minute as Lynn opened the scoring and led, 1-0. Just like each match this postseason, the Lakers answered while trailing. In the 81
st minute,
Alex Rodriguez crossed to
Fallah Johnson and his shot found the back of the net for a goal, knotting the match up at one.
Miguel Torrecillas and
Othmane Chagour both notched shots in the final five minutes of the half but the two teams were tied at the end of 90 minutes and the match went to overtime. In the overtime period, Lynn scored the match-winning goal 59 seconds into the period and downed the Lakers, 2-1.
