MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State University soccer players Isami Takeuchi, Camilo Velez, Trinity Chastain, Madison Nicolas, and Jessica Fuentes were recognized by the College Sport Communicators (CSC) as Academic All-District selections.  The organization announced its selections on Tuesday afternoon.  Takeuchi is the lone selection that earned this distinction for a second time while the other four are first time selections.

Majoring in computer science, Takeuchi was a 2023 All-District selection and has earned many other academic honors including the PBC Team of Academic Distinction, PBC Presidential Honor Roll, and D2ADA Academic Achievement.  In addition, Isami was a 2023 PBC second-team all-conference mention.  This season, Isami played in 15 games and has notched five shots.  Currently, Takeuchi is fourth on the career games played list with 77 games and fifth for the fifth most career starts with 72.

Majoring in General Business, Camilo Velez adds this accolade to a list including a 2024 PBC Presidential Honor Roll mention.  This season was a breakout year for Camilo as he played in 17 games and made four starts.  He scored one goal and added a pair of assists.

Majoring in Film Production, Trinity Chastain is no stranger to awards as she is a PBC Presidential Honor Roll and D2ADA Academic Achievement mention.  This season saw Trinity be selected as a second-team All-PBC keeper.  Trinity had a career year as she only conceded 11 goals in 1215 minutes played.  She tallied the third-best goals against average in a single-season recording less than a goal (.81).  She made 60 saves and pitched six shutouts.  Six shutouts are the most for a Laker keeper since 2014.  In her Laker career, Chastain finished tied for second with a goal against average of 1.17.  She is tied with CSU Hall of Famer Judith Chime.

Majoring in Health Administration, Madison Nicolas was a 2024 PBC Presidential Honor Roll selection.  On the field, Madison scored a goal and added three assists in 17 games played.  Majoring in Health Since, Fuentes gathers her first CSC Academic All-District mention.  In 15 games, she notched 11 shots including seven on frame.

The Academic All-America selections will be released on December 10th for the men and the 11th for the ladies.  The CSC Academic All-America is voted by the Sports Information Directors across the three NCAA Divisions, the NAIA, and the Junior College Ranks.
