KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) (formerly CoSIDA) announced its selections for the Men's Soccer Academic All-District teams on Tuesday afternoon. The Clayton State University men's soccer team saw three players selected to this honor.
Defenders
Lewis Green and
Christian Ransome and midfielder
Geo Rios were recognized by the CSC. Green is the lone repeat selection from last season while Ransome and Rios earned this honor for the first time.
A native of Sunderland, England, Green had a good season for the Lakers. Green notched a pair of assists in 17 matches played. While he was in the match, the Laker defense only surrendered 28 goals and scored 44. Majoring in marketing, Green was also a PBC Team of Academic Distinction and D2 ADA Academic Achievement honoree in the 2021 season.
A native of Port-au-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Ransome had an impressive season for Clayton State. Christian was elected to the first-team All-PBC in 2022 while earning PBC second-team all-conference in 2021. This season, Ransome played and started in all 19 matches and tallied an assist against North Greenville. Majoring in Supply Chain Management, Christian is no stranger to academic achievements as he is a two-time honoree of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement and PBC Team of Academic Distinction awards.
A native of Lawrenceville, Ga., Rios added another stellar accolade to his, already, impressive resume. Rios, who learned on Tuesday, that he was awarded the D2 CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year and got a first-team All-Region nod, is tied for the national lead with .79 assists a match and is tied for second with 15 assists. In addition, Rios added a career-high six goals on 51 shots. Rios also notched 27 points on the season. He added this honor to a list of honors that includes PBC Offensive Player of the Year and a PBC first-team all-Conference nod. Geo also garnered United Soccer Coaches (USC) Academic All-Region and All-America honors in 2021 and he is a two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement and PBC Team of Academic Distinction honoree.
CSC Academic All-America teams are released on December 7
th at 12 p.m.
