Clayton State Completes Season Sweep Over Young Harris on Saturday

Isaac Pimenta and Langston Blackstock both scored twice

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day at Laker Field on Saturday evening.  The Lakers scored three, first half goals and downed the Young Harris College Mountain Lions, 4-2.

The Lakers struck early and opened the scoring.  In the eighth minute, off a nice one-touch pass from Geo Rios, Isami Takeuchi fed the streaking Langston Blackstock for the goal.  The Lakers got off to a sparkling start up, 1-0.   Both teams played very aggressively in the first half as they combined for 19 fouls and countless stoppages.  Then, Clayton State added to their lead.  Off a brilliant through-ball by Blackstock, Isaac Pimenta drove into the box and marked his fifth goal of the season making the score, 2-0.

The Lakers were not done yet in the first half as they added a goal in the late minutes.  In the 40th minute, Pimenta scored his second goal of the match and made the score, 3-0.  The Mountain Lions provided no answer for the Laker attack as they trailed, 3-0, going into the break.

Halftime: Clayton State 3, Young Harris 0

The aggressive play continued in the early minutes of the second half as four fouls and two yellow cards were called in the first 15 minutes.  In the 62nd minute, Young Harris started to close the gap as they got one goal closer but still trailed, 3-1.  The Lakers continued to pressure the Mountain Lions midway through the half.  In the 72nd minute, Vic Delgado Miller was fouled in the box forcing a penalty kick.  Blackstock then took the kick and racked up his second goal of the match.  The Lakers led, 4-1.

The Mountain Lions added a goal in the 81st minute but it was too little too late as the Lakers won the match, 4-2, and swept the season series.
