CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Clayton State men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker on Tuesday at Queens University of Charlotte, losing 4-3 in double overtime.

Captain Geo Rios delivered the first goal of the game in the 38th minute to give Clayton State (1-1-1) a 1-0 lead before the halftime break. The sophomore scored off a free kick after the Royals (1-1-0) committed a foul.

Queens then tied the match 1-1 in the 58th but were unable to hold the momentum as Langston Blackstock scored just over a minute later to give the lead back to the Lakers. Isaac Pimenta added to the lead just over two minutes later and put Clayton State in good position for the remainder of the match.

The Royals wouldn't go away quietly though, scoring twice in the final minutes. A pair of successful penalty kicks in the 87th and 90th minute sent the match into overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Queens was able to withstand several opportunities from the Lakers before scoring in the 105th minute to steal the win at home.

COMING UP:
- The Lakers are back at home on Friday for a 7 p.m. meeting with Auburn-Montgomery.
- On Sunday, Clayton State hosts Tampa for a 1 p.m. matchup.
