Men's Soccer at Home on Wednesday, Women's Soccer Travels

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State men's and women's soccer teams will play home and away on Wednesday as both teams stay in state.

The men's team opens conference play against USC Aiken at home for a 5 p.m. meeting while the women's team travels to Carrollton, Ga. to play at West Georgia.

- Both teams open Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday
- The Lakers lead the overall series 19-8-3
- Three of the last four games have resulted in a Laker win while the two teams played to a draw in 2017
- Aiken won in 2014 and 2015 after Clayton State won six-straight
- At home, the Lakers are 11-5-1  
- Last year's game was not played (COVID-19)
 
The Teams:
Clayton State (1-3-1, 0-0-0 PBC)
- Opened the season with a 2-2 draw against Lees-McRae
- Followed that with a 2-0 win over Erskine before losing 4-3 in double overtime to Queens (N.C.)
- Clayton State lost 2-1 to Auburn Montgomery on Friday night
- The Lakers then fell 3-0 to Tampa on Sunday
- Geo Rios leads the team with 8 points (2g,4a) and 4 assists
- Ranks third in the PBC with 8 points
- In second in the PBC for assists
- Langston Blackstock has a team high 3 goals and is tied for fourth in the conference
- Theo Blachon is tied for first in the conference with 12 saves
- The Lakers were picked third in the preseason coaches poll
 
USC Aiken (1-2-0, 0-0-0 PBC)
- The Pacers opened the season with a 3-1 win over Newberry
- They followed that up with a 1-0 (2OT) loss vs. Catawba and a 6-1 loss to Mars Hill
- Aiken has two non-conference games left on the schedule
- Jaymee Kambel leads the team with three goals and one assist
- Mohamed Abdallah and Maik Siekermann each have on goal
- Kambel is tied for third in the league in goals
- Joey Valenti is tied for first in the conference with 12 saves
- The Pacers were picked seventh in the preseason coaches poll  

Women's Soccer Matchup: Watch | Live Stats
- Clayton State leads the overall series against West Ga. 6-3-1
- After dropping the first three meetings to the Wolves, the Lakers won six straight before a 1-1 draw broke the streak
- The Lakers are 2-2 at West Ga.
- This will be the first road game of the season for Clayton State and the first home game for West Ga.
 
The Teams:
Clayton State (0-2-1, 0-0-0 PBC)
- Opened the season with a double overtime loss against Valdosta State
- Followed up with a 2-2 draw against Lincoln Memorial before losing 4-0 to Montevallo
Kamila Mroziewicz leads the team with two goals
Isabel Massa and Luise Domnick have each tallied one goal
Valentina Bonaiuto has recorded 16 saves
- Six of the last nine games for Clayton State have gone into overtime
- The Lakers will host the No. 1 team in the nation on Saturday, Flagler College, as both teams open Peach Belt Conference play
 
West Georgia (1-1-0, 0-0-0 GSC)
- The Wolves opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Lander
- They followed up with a no contest against North Georgia before taking a 2-1 win over Georgia College
- Wednesday's matchup will conclude the non-conference regular season for both teams
- Wednesday will also begin a three-game homestand for the Wolves
- Sadie Prince and Janaisia Smith have scored the two goals this season
- Chanceley Book has made 11 saves in two games
- West Ga. went 3-2 last season
- The Wolves have not had a winning record since the 2016 season
