MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Georgia College on Thursday night to conclude its 2021 spring season.
The Lakers finish their season with a 3-3 record while playing a Peach Belt Conference only schedule. Georgia College has one game left and are 3-6 for the season.
Before the match, head coach Fergal Forde honored his lone senior,
Ann-Cathrin Zabel. The German native has played 54 games during her four years while making 46 starts. She has spent the last two seasons captaining the Lakers defense.
It was a tough match for both teams as the shot count finished 18-13 in favor of the Bobcats. Clayton State however did hold a 4-3 shots on goal advantage.
Georgia College scored the lone goal of the game in the 12th minute as Summer Ligon placed her shot in the top left corner of the goal.
The Lakers would attempt to answer but could not find the back of the net. They close their season having played six of their scheduled 10 games.
Lois Beer finished with a team-high four shots with two being on goal while
Reia Henry had three shots. Zabel and
Pia Haug each had two shots.
