GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Clayton State men's soccer team closed its 2021 spring season with a 3-1 loss to No. 4 Lander University.
The Bearcats (8-0, 8-0 PBC) clinched their 10th Peach Belt Conference Regular Season Title on March 23 and sit No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II rankings.
Lander struck first in the ninth minute and held the lead until Langston Blackstock equaled the score in the 25th. The junior received a great pass from Alexis Iturria and then was able to beat the keeper to tie the game at 1-1.
Neither team would find the back of the net for the remainder of the half.
Lander then opened the second half with a pair of goals in the first 2:58 to pull ahead 3-1. Neither team would score for the remainder of the match while the Lakers (3-6, 3-6 PBC) finished the half with two shots.
Thursday's game closed the season for the Lakers who managed to play nine of their scheduled 10 games.
