DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Clayton State men's soccer team fell 1-0 to North Georgia in the final minute of the first overtime period in Monday's Peach Belt Conference matchup,
With six seconds left in the first overtime period, North Georgia (1-5, 1-5 PBC) was presented with a late opportunity for a last-second goal.
The Night Hawks delivered the ball to
Theo Blachon's left, but a UNG header crossed the ball and found a streaking North Georgia player who headed in the game winner.
The loss ties the season series with UNG at 1-1. Clayton State (2-3, 2-3 PBC) won the season opener 2-1 against the Night Hawks.
The Lakers managed two shots in the first half before taking seven in the second with only three on goal. North Georgia finished regulation with 13 shots, also with three on goal.
In overtime however, all three UNG shots were on target while Clayton State had one shot in the 10-minute period.
Four Lakers had two shots while
Geo Rios placed two on goal.
Brad Kay had the other shot on goal.
Blachon finished with five saves.
COMING UP:
- Clayton State hits the road again on Thursday with a trip to Lander. Gametime is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
- The Lakers are back at home on Monday for a 3:00 p.m. meeting with Georgia Southwestern on March 15.

- In the last 10 meetings, Clayton State is 5-4-1. All four losses are the only losses in the series.
