Women’s Basketball Handles Young Harris On Senior Night

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State women's basketball team closed out its home regular season schedule on Wednesday night with a 73-43 win over Young Harris in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.
 
After the game, the Lakers honored their five seniors: Jada Francois Lubin, Kerry Watson, Timi'a Swanson, Praise Russell and Dejah Montgomery.
 
Clayton State has one final regular-season game remaining, a rematch at No. 12 North Georgia on Saturday.
 
Young Harris (5-7, 5-7 PBC) scored the game's first basket and built an eight-point lead with just over four minutes to play in the first quarter. The Lakers were able to chip away but trailed 17-15 at the end of the quarter.
 
Clayton State scored five straight to start the second and never trailed again. Leading 20-19, the Lakers closed the half with an 18-4 run to lead 38-23.
 
Audrey McElhaney had a team-high 17 points and finished with four rebounds. Watson had eight of her 10 points in the first half and added five assists, four rebounds and four steals.
 
Francois Lubin put together a solid performance with six points, five rebounds, three assists and a career-high four blocks.
 
The third quarter was all Clayton State again. The Lakers started the second half with a 12-0 run and outscored the Mountain Lions 14-8 to lead 52-31 after three quarters.
 
The Lakers continued to control the game and scored 21-fourth quarter points to close out the win.
 
Freshman Jadah Waite added 10 points and four rebounds while Swanson scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lakers had 34 points in the paint to Young Harris' 10.
