Men’s Soccer Falls In Overtime To Young Harris 4-3

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Clayton State men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker in overtime on Monday, falling 4-3 to Young Harris in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.
 
Tied 3-3 with just over three minutes left in the overtime period, Young Harris (2-0, 2-0 PBC) was awarded a penalty kick after a Laker (1-2, 1-2 PBC) foul was called inside the 18-yard box.
 
Sondre Olsen converted the kick after Theo Blachon guessed the opposite direction. The senior keeper finished with four saves.
 
The Lakers scored first in the game off an Isaac Pimenta shot who received an assist from Mitro Turunen in the 12th minute.
 
The Mountain Lions answered just under four minutes later and would take the lead in the 37th minute.
 
Geo Rios tied the game in the 40th minute with an assist from Alexis Iturria, but Young Harris scored with 25 seconds left in the half off a corner kick to lead 3-2 at halftime.
 
The second half would see only one goal. Josh Rodgers tied the game in the 61st with an assist from Rios. Neither team would score until the overtime pk.

COMING UP:
- Clayton State returns home on Monday, March 1, for a 5:00 p.m. matchup against Flagler College.
- The Lakers then hist the road for a pair of games at North Georgia (March 8) and Lander (March 11).

TURNING POINT:
- Young Harris converting its penalty kick in overtime.
