BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Clayton State women's indoor track & field showed very little rust as multiple high level performances dotted the results from the Emory CrossPlex Showdown on Sunday, January 19.

Leading the way was senior
Nia Elmore (Hinesville, Ga.) as she took top honors ahead of 39 other competitors in the 60-meters as she posted a finals time of 7.72.

She also placed 6-of-45 in the 200-meters (25.87) and was part of a 4x400 relay that placed 2-of-9 as she teamed with junior
Na'ilah Allen (McDonough, Ga.) and freshmen
Jayda Daniels (Hinesville, Ga.) and freshman
Caitlyn Sanders (Conyers, Ga.) for a time of 4:08.74. Individually, Allen placed 10-of-25 in the 800-meters (2:28.42) and Daniels was 22-of-40 in the 60-meters (8.29).

In the latter event, sophomore
Kayla Williams (Decatur, Ga.) placed 3-of-40 with a finals time of 7.85 and was also 11-of-45 in the 200-meters (26.67). In that event, senior
Jasmine Radford (Lawrenceville, Ga.) finished fifth with a mark of 25.79.

On the field side of things, sophomore
Kiara Green (Ty, Ty, Ga.) came in 11-of-32 in the shotput at 10.67-meters with freshman
Shania Riles (Columbus, Ga.) right behind her in 12
th (10.57m). Riles also delivered a 14-of-34 outing in the hammer with a distance of 12.46-meters to round out the top performers.

After an extended break from their season opener, the Lakers will be back in action much sooner as they head to the Carolina Challenge hosted by South Carolina from January 31 through February 1. A portion of the squad is also slated to go to the Tiger Indoor Invitational hosted by Sewanee on the latter date.
