Clayton State to Open 2019 Season Against NCAA Tournament Qualifier Anderson; Four Years To The Day of Last Meeting

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State (0-0, 0-0 PBC) men's soccer will waste no time in seeing where they stand as they host 2018 NCAA Division II Tournament qualifier Anderson (11-6-3, 5-2-3 SAC) to open the 2019 campaign on Thursday, September 5. Game time is set for 7 p.m. as the back half of a split doubleheader with the women at Laker Field.

In a series that dates to September 12, 1997, the Lakers are an impressive 8-0 but the teams have not met since September 5, 2015 when Clayton State posted a narrow 2-1 decision at Laker Field. The previous meeting was also a four year stretch with AU dropping a 5-1 road decision on September 2, 2011.

Overall the series has featured six of the eight games in Morrow with the only exceptions being the very first contest, a 5-1 win in Anderson, South Carolina on September 12, 1997, and a 1-0 NCAA Regional Championship victory on November 14, 2000 in Montevallo, Alabama. The latter sent the Lakers to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.

Bill Schindler will bring you the call of all the action on live video with coverage of the game also being available on live stats. Both are available on www.ClaytonStateSports.com.
