MORROW, Ga. – Having put up a program record 10 goals in their last outing, Clayton State (3-0, 0-0 PBC) men's soccer faces a much stiffer challenge as they head to Tampa, Florida to take on Tampa (1-1, 0-0 SSC) in non-conference action on Saturday, September 14. Game time is set 7 p.m.
All-time the teams have met a total of 11 times, including eight straight seasons from 2009-16. Tampa holds an 8-2-1 advantage in the series and is undefeated in the last six outings. Clayton State won the first meeting 2-0 in Tampa, Florida on September 2, 2005 and again, 2-1, on September 6, 2011 in Morrow.
In their last six against UT, the best they've managed is a 2-2 tie at Laker Field on September 5, 2013 and a 1-1 deadlock last year on September 8.
The Lakers come in making their mark at a national level following their 10-0 victory over Southern Wesleyan. As of the September 12 NCAA Division II Statistical Rankings, they are No. 1 in the nation in total goals (14) as a team, fifth in scoring offense (4.67), third in total points (33) and 10
th in points per game. The point total is actually higher at 36 following the addition of three assists from the previous game that would put them second in the country.
Individually, the numbers are just as impressive as redshirt-senior
Ryan King (County Durham, England) is the nation's leader in total goals (6) and total points (13) while also ranking second in goals per game (2.0) and fifth in points per game (4.33). In three games his goal total is already half of the 12 he scored in 17 games in his previous campaign in 2016.

th in the country with a pair of shutouts and sophomore
Brad Kay (Manchester, England) is ninth in total goals (3) and 20
th in total points (6).
