MORROW, Ga. – With the close of the 2018-19 campaign, the Clayton State Sports Information Office is producing a Season in Review for each of the program's 11 sports.
That series began with the fall season and will progress to the winter and spring campaigns. Each week reviews will be released on Mondays and Wednesdays until concluding with the final spring sport on Monday, July 8 and the Athletics Season in Review on Wednesday, July 10. Today we take a look back at the 2018 Men's Soccer season.

2018 Season in Review
- 3-11-3 overall and 2-5-0 in Peach Belt Conference
- Qualified for Peach Belt Conference Tournament as No. 6 seed, defeating No. 3 seed North Georgia 0-0, 5-4 in penalty kicks in epic road quarterfinal victory
- Dropped narrow 2-0 decision in PBC semifinals to regular season and tournament runner-up No. 7 Lander
- Kwaku Dwamena delivered career-best seven points on a pair of goals and career-high three assists as Lakers put up most goals in a game since 2013 with 7-1 victory over Shorter
- Posted second half comeback in 3-2 win over Georgia Southwestern as Hector Gutierrez came up from his defensive spot to deliver the game winner in the 88th minute at Laker Field
- Kari Puustinen posted first career shutout in key 1-0 victory at USC Aiken that put Clayton State into PBC Tournament.
- Tied Tampa 1-1 and Erskine 2-2
- Faced four teams that went on to earn berths in the 2018 NCAA Division II Tournament (Limestone, Lander, Queens, Young Harris)
Individual Achievements/Honors
- Kwaku Dwamena and Mitro Turunen named to All-Peach Belt Conference Second-Team
- Jordan Knight and Turunen named to PBC All-Academic Team
- Knight earned Outstanding Leadership Award at South Eastern Model of the African Union (SEMAU)
- Dwamena finished with five goals and five assists for 15 points and newcomer Brad Kay had five scores and a pair of assists for 12 points. Turunen finished with three goals and three assists. All three started all 17 games and were the only Lakers to do so
