ATLANTA, Ga. – For the second straight weekend, Clayton State men's and women's track & field gets to compete minutes from campus and has closed out a limited field on Day 1 of the Emory Classic Friday, March 29.

Destiny Johnson (New Iberia, La.) led the way with a 3-of-39 performance in the high jump as she notched a height of 1.65-meters while sophomore
Dalania Clardy (Riverdale, Ga.) excelled in the long jump. In that event she placed 7-of-48 with a mark of 5.11-meters.

The men competed in only two events with one of those, the 4x800-meter relay, encompassing five of the six Lakers in the opening day field. Highlighting their efforts was freshman
Derrick Ward (Marietta, Ga.) who came in 7-of-36 in the 400-meter hurdles, notching a personal best time of 57.07.

Clayton State heads right back to Eagle Row tomorrow, Saturday, March 30 for Day 2 of the meet. That will kick off at 10 a.m. with the men seeing action in the hammer and the women in the shotput. For those unable to attend, fans can follow all the action through
