Â
It would be a game of runs as both teams would put together extended stretches over the first 20 minutes, beginning with a 12-2 burst by the Lakers that culminated at the 6:56 mark of the first half. Over the next 10:35, however, the game would belong to the Bobcats.
Â
During that stretch they scored 20 straight points to flip the script completely and take a 22-12 lead by the 6:21 mark of the second quarter. The tide would then turn back in favor of Clayton State as Towns fueled a commanding 19-2 run to close the half. Trailing 24-20 with 3:51 left she proceeded to bomb in three straight three-points, including the third from well beyond the arc, to help the Lakers to a 31-24 halftime lead.
Â
Clayton State would stretch to a 42-31 advantage by the 2:42 mark before closing the frame with a 42-35 margin. That would only grow in the fourth quarter as they extended to 60-42 advantage late before closing out the commanding 67-42 victory. In the period they would outscore the Bobcats 25-7.
Â
Anaya Cone led Georgia College with 10 points and seven rebounds while Harper Vick finished with 10 points and three assists. They were joined by Keyonna Wesley with seven points.
