MORROW, Ga. – For the second straight season Clayton State (0-0, 0-0 PBC) will open the season fellow Southeast Region member Queens University of Charlotte (0-0, 0-0 SAC), this time at home, as they host the Royals on Thursday, August 30. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Laker Field and will follow a 5 p.m. neutral site game between West Alabama and Francis Marion.
 
The Lakers hold a perfect 5-1-1 mark dating to the first meeting on September 29, 2004. Clayton State would claim a 2-1 victory that day before meeting QUC later in the year in the NCAA Division II Tournament. There, the teams headed to overtime tied at 0-0 before the Lakers claimed a 4-3 shootout victory that propelled them into the Sweet 16.
 
From there it would be four straight wins from August 27, 2005 through the most recent meeting, a 2-1 decision on October 3, 2014. All but the last were played at Laker Field. A highly competitive series, all but one game has been decided by one goal, that being a 5-0 win by the Lakers on September 1, 2012.
 
Most recently, the Royals posted a narrow 2-1 victory in last season's opener in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 31.
