AUGUSTA, Ga. – Clayton State men's cross country has put four individuals on the 2018 Peach Belt Conference Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team as announced by the league on Friday, October 26.

Jason Dang (Gainesville, Ga.), juniors
Evan Ortiz (McDonough, Ga.) and
Anuj Patel (Cochran, Ga.) and senior
T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) each earned a spot on the team. Witherspoon made the team with a 3.55 in Biology, Dang with a 3.45 in English with Secondary Certification, Patel a 3.82 in Computer Science and Ortiz with a 3.46 in Computer Science.

For Witherspoon, between cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field, it is his fifth All-Academic selection and maximum third for cross country. Ortiz and Dang earned their third such honor while Patel collected his first.

In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor.

The GPA is calculated through the previous semester and an individual that is a graduate transfer to an institution other than where they earned their undergraduate degree is immediately eligible.
The Peach Belt Conference Men's Cross Country Academic All-Conference Teams are released close to the end of the regular season and before the conference championship. Clayton State men's cross country returns to action on Saturday, November 3 when travel to Beech Island, South Carolina for the 2018 PBC Championships.
