AUGUSTA, Ga. – Nearing the close of the regular season, Clayton State has placed a pair of individuals on the 2018 Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer All-Academic Team as announced by the league on Thursday, October 25.
Â
Junior defender
Jordan Knight (Javea, Spain) and sophomore midfielder
Mitro Turunen (Vantaa, Finland) were among 29 individuals to be recognized. Knight collected his second consecutive honor, in as many years being eligible for it, with a 3.80 GPA in Political Science while Turunen, currently undecided on a major, posted a 3.75 GPA.
Â
On the field, Turunen has started all 14 games and registered a pair of goals and three assists in 1,219 minutes and Knight has started all 13 games he has played in, logging 1,143 minutes.
Â
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor.
Â
The GPA is calculated through the previous semester and an individual that is a graduate transfer to an institution other than where they earned their undergraduate degree is immediately eligible.
