AUGUSTA, Ga. – Following a junior campaign that saw him earn multiple league honors, senior midfielder Ryan King (County Durham, England) has been named to the 2017 All-Peach Belt Conference Preseason Team as announced by the league on Wednesday, August 23.
 
One of 11 players selected to this year's team, King is the 19^th overall selection in Laker history and the 15^th different individual. He also continues a run of Clayton State having at least one player selected in all 11 years that the team has been named dating back to 2007.
 
Also named to the team this season are Ivan Acimovic (North Georgia), Carlos Gomez (Young Harris), Sam Jones (Young Harris), Sam Lofts (Lander), Juan Membreno (Flagler), Marco Micaletto (Young Harris), Jamie North (Lander), Levin Sandmann (Francis Marion), Andre Simmond (USC Aiken) and Jordan Skelton (Lander).
 
A team captain, King produced a season that saw him earn All-PBC Second-Team honors and PBC Player of the Week (10/31) recognition. Those awards came about from a campaign that saw him produce a team-leading 12 goals, good for a tie for fourth in the PBC, and 27 points. The latter was fifth in the league.
 
Additionally he notched a pair of hat tricks on the year and produced six goals and a pair of assists over the final three games of the year. Overall, he played in all 17 games, starting 16 while logging 1,388 minutes.
 
Historically, the Lakers have had 19 total selections with Jonny Evans (2013, 2014, 2015) earning a program record three such honors. Arturo Cruz (2012, 2014) and Leighton Fredericks (2009, 2010) are the only other multi-time honorees.
