Key PBC Battle Against North Georgia Awaits Clayton State on Senior Night

MORROW, Ga. – With an opportunity to move towards nailing down a 2017 Peach Belt Conference home quarterfinal game, Clayton State (7-6-1, 2-2-1 PBC) men's soccer hosts North Georgia (7-6, 4-2 PBC) in a key game on Wednesday, October 25. Kickoff is set for approximately 7:30 p.m. with the evening also featuring Senior Night prior to the game.

The Lakers enter the evening tied for fourth place with USC Aiken at seven points apiece and trailing UNG by five points. Wins in both of their two final games will vault them to the three seed while a win over Flagler in the regular season finale will give them the advantage over the Saints (currently six points with two to play). With USCA down with the league schedule, any points keep them ahead in that matchup.

Up until a 1-0 loss on October 14, 2015, the Lakers were perfect in 21 games against the Nighthawks (formerly Saints) but now hold a 20-1-2 record in the series. Clayton State won the first 13 meetings from the first outing on October 11, 1992 (the inaugural season) through November 2, 2007.

That unbeaten streak would carry through 2014 and see only a pair of ties, 1-1 on October 11, 2008 and 0-0 on October 10, 2012. Last year the Lakers regained their winning ways in the series, posting a convincing 5-2 victory in Dahlonega, Georgia on October 26.

Directly prior to the game Clayton State will recognize six men's soccer senior student-athletes for their achievements and do the same at halftime for members of men's and women's cross country. Both ceremonies and the game will be available on live video while the game will also be covered on live stats on www.ClaytonStateSports.com.
