MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State (4-1, 1-0 PBC) has opened the season at 4-1 for just the third time in the program's 22-year history and seeks the second best start to a season as they head to Peach Belt Conference foe UNC Pembroke (2-2, 0-0 PBC) on Wednesday, September 21. Game time is slated for a special start time of 1 p.m. as the front end of a double header with the men's team.
 
The 2014 team had the best start in program history as they opened at 10-1 while both the 2001 and 2004 clubs were 4-1. Neither of the latter extended that stretch to 5-1, meaning that with a victory at UNCP, Clayton State would have the second best start in team history.
 
The Lakers are 9-5-2 all-time against the Braves and are 4-3 on the road in the series. Clayton State has won three of the last four, dating back to a 3-1 decision on September 22, 2012. UNCP, however, has won the most recent meeting by a 3-1 margin on September 26, 2015.
