DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Clayton State (8-6-1, 5-5-1 PBC) could not withstand a steady offensive attack by No. 19 North Georgia (11-1-3, 8-1-2 PBC) as they dropped a 5-0 decision in an NCAA Division II women's soccer game on Wednesday, October 26.

The Nighthawks would get on the board first, doing so within the first eight minutes. With just 7:48 gone by, Jacy Ramey broke away from the field and rifled home a shot from 35 yards out, giving UNG a 1-0 lead.

At that point the Lakers defense would lock down but North Georgia would strike again almost 30 minutes later. Sophia Matonak chipped the ball over the defense where Mollie Arrendale put it just over the keeper for a 2-0 advantage at 37:14. The teams would then take that margin into the half just under eight minutes later.

Ramey would once again kick start the scoring, this time with just over 13 minutes gone by in the second half. Brynn Finneran and Megan Gil found Ramey in front of the net, were she put home her second goal of the game for a 3-0 lead.

Less than three minutes later she would notch the hat trick, heading in a pass from Jessica Allen's free kick from 13 yards out at 61:29. In the 82
nd minute, it would be Arrendale finding the back of the net as Gil and Renee VanHorn each picked up assists on the play.

Clayton State was limited to just five shots on offense, with two of those coming on goal. Leading the way was graduate midfielder
Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain) with a pair of shots while freshman defender
Jasmin Miettinen (Kuopio, Finland) and freshman defender
Manoly Baquerizo (Guayaquil, Ecuador) each put one on net.

In goal, redshirt-junior goalkeeper
Jessica Charman (Harefield, England) went the distance, allowing five goals against four saves. She falls to 8-5-1 on the year.

Ramey led the way for UNG with three goals while Arrendale notched a pair of scores. Gil posted two assists and Allen, Matonak and VanHorn each came away with assists. Hannah Goudy played all 90 minutes and made three saves to pick up the shutout. She improves to 5-0-2 on the season.

The Lakers close out the regular season with Senior Day at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 30. Originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, October 29, the game against Flagler was moved back a day in order to facilitate the rescheduling of games for the Saints following Hurricane Matthew. Senior Day festivities will take place directly prior to the game.
