Junior midfielder Ryan King (County Durham, England) made quite an impression in his first two games as a Laker, finishing with three goals against stiff competition.
Facing No. 5 and defending NCAA Division II South Region Champion Palm Beach Atlantic (9/1), King would log 76 minutes and keep the Lakers in the game. Outside of a burst of two goals in a span of 2:16 of the second half, King helped hold the Sailfish down before falling 2-0.
His second game would be a much different story as he faced his former team, Barry (9/3). In that game he drilled a career-high three goals, including a header with 3:23 left that pulled Clayton State to within a goal, before falling 5-4. He also recorded those three scores on just four shots while playing all 90 minutes. That effort helped lead to the highest combined scoring game by the Lakers since 2007.
