Junior guard/forward Alfonso Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) was lights out in January as he averaged 20.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, 1.9 assists and nearly a steal a game in 10 contests. He also shot .563 from the field and .797 at the foul line.
Â
During that stretch he scored at least 22 points a total of seven times, including 33 points with 10 rebounds at Augusta (1/30). That point total was just seven short of the all-time program record of 40 by Robert Conley (1999) and he also knocked down 15 free-throws (15-of-18) to come in just four shy of Todd McLaurin’s (2006) mark for made free throws.
Â
Davis also ripped down a program record-tying 19 boards, along with 28 points, four assists, three blocks and a pair of steals, against Georgia College (1/13). Directly prior to that game he finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds against North Georgia (1/9) to begin a run of three straight double-doubles. He would finish with four on the month.
