Junior guard/forward Alfonso Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) delivered another tremendous performance last week as he averaged 24.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists in 37.5 minutes per game.
He opened at Georgia Southwestern (1/27) and was critical in the Lakers 84-82 victory. In that game he put up 15 points, nine rebounds, four steals, two blocks and a pair of assists. He also shot .556 from the floor (5-of-9).
Davis would be even more impressive in the week's finale at Augusta (1/30). In 39 minutes of action he dropped a near record 33 points on 9-of-13 shooting, went 15-of-18 from the line and hauled in 10 rebounds to go with a block, steal and assist. His point total was just seven shy of equaling the program record of 40 set by Robert Conley in 1999 and was just four made free throws away from Todd McLaurin's team record of 19 from 2006.
From a percentage standpoint, he went delivered an incredible .692 from the floor and .833 from the foul line.
On the season, he is averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.3 assists. He is shooting .574 from the field and .732 from the foul line. Currently he is second in the Peach Belt Conference in total blocks (42), fourth in rebounding and eighth in field goal percentage.
